They Cannot Reconcile If Wike Backs Tinubu, And Makinde Thinks He Should Be Given A Chance-Okolugbo
Political tension is rising again within Nigeria’s opposition space as analyst Kenny Okolugbo has warned that deep internal divisions may have pushed the party beyond easy reconciliation.
According to him, the crisis is no longer just about disagreements, it is now about competing power blocs that are pulling in completely different directions. Alot of people won’t agree with this, Watch Video Now.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Okolugbo pointed to the sharp decline in the party’s strength, noting that it has fallen from a once-dominant structure with multiple governors to just a few remaining strongholds.
He argued that this collapse is linked to long-standing internal struggles, especially issues around leadership control and lack of true internal democracy.
At the center of the storm are two powerful political figures — Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde — whose opposing political directions, according to him, are making unity extremely difficult.
Okolugbo suggested that while Wike’s political alignment has shifted toward the ruling structure, Makinde continues to pursue his own leadership ambitions, creating a serious deadlock within the party hierarchy.
He warned that these competing interests are weakening the opposition’s ability to function as a united force ahead of future elections.
As legal and political battles continue to shape the party’s direction, observers say the coming months will be critical in determining whether reconciliation is still possible — or whether the divide is now permanent.
