In a video shared by Viable TV, the youth leader of the Northern Plateau Youth Council and resident of Angwan Rukuba community of Jos, spoke about the attack on his community by suspected bandits on Palm Sunday
The youth leader said around 7:30 p.m gunmen invaded Angwan Rukuba and began shooting people indiscriminately. He stated that most of them wore half military camouflage with veils around their necks.
He said the gunmen were speaking Hausa and Fulfulde while moving around and firing at people. He added that youths attempted to chase after the gunmen as they were leaving the community but soldiers came with two army Hilux vehicles and stopped the youths. He also said one of the soldiers even attempted to shoot him in the leg but missed.
In his words: “Around 7:30 gunmen just came and started shooting people. Some were using machetes and most of them wore half camo: that is army clothes, and a veil on their neck. They were speaking Hausa and Fulfude, going around and and spraying bullets on people. When they were going down, in less than 10 minutes we now saw two army Hilux came with two bikers and gave them cover. I was there, one of the soldiers nearly shot me on the leg but he missed”
