“They Shot Anyone They Saw!” – Horror in Jos as Innocent Passersby Caught in Deadly Night Attack
Fear and heartbreak have gripped residents of Jos after a terrifying attack left several people dead and many others injured in Angwan Rukuba community. What was meant to be a normal Sunday evening suddenly turned into chaos as gunmen struck without warning.
Eyewitnesses say the attackers did not just target a specific group — they fired at anyone in sight, including innocent people who were simply passing through the area.
According to residents, the gunmen first entered a local beer parlour, pretending to be regular customers. They reportedly sat among the people, blending in quietly and raising no suspicion. Moments later, everything changed.
At about 8 p.m., when darkness had already started setting in, the attackers suddenly opened fire, sending people running in fear. The sound of gunshots filled the air as confusion took over the entire area.
Many victims struggled to escape due to poor visibility, while others ran blindly in different directions trying to save their lives.
But the horror did not end there.
Witnesses revealed that after attacking the beer parlour, the gunmen moved through nearby paths, continuing their shooting spree. Anyone they came across became a target.
One resident painfully recounted, “People who were not even part of the area but passing through were hit. After shooting there, they moved through a nearby path, shooting anyone they saw.”
The attack has once again raised serious concerns about security in Plateau State, as communities continue to live in fear of sudden violence.
What do you think is the solution to these repeated attacks in Jos and other parts of Nigeria?
