GEJ: His Boss Died In Office, He Became President; He Was Re-Elected Before He Chickened Out-Sobowale
Public affairs analyst Dayo Sobowale has commented on growing speculation about a possible 2027 presidential comeback by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Sobowale reflected on Jonathan’s rise to power after the death of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in 2010. Jonathan later won the 2011 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party.
“His boss died in office and he became president. He was re-elected again before he chickened out,” Sobowale said.
Jonathan lost his 2015 re-election bid to Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress in Nigeria’s first democratic transfer of power from a ruling party to the opposition.
