Atiku Meets Kwankwaso In Abuja (Pictures)

Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, on Friday, met with former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at his Maitama residence in Abuja.

Naija News gathered that the meeting took place shortly after the Jumu’ah prayers.

The visit was confirmed to Daily Trust by Kwankwaso’s media aide, Saifullahi Hassan, who said both leaders held private discussions after exchanging pleasantries.

Details of the meeting, however, were not made public.

The development comes at a time when opposition figures are exploring strategies ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Both politicians are key figures within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition platform, currently attracting opposition interests.

The meeting comes days after Atiku dismissed claims that Kwankwaso could eclipse him politically in the northern region.

In a recent interview on Arise TV, he maintained his dominance.

According to him, he remains “more popular than Kwankwaso in the North,” citing his long-standing political network and influence.

While assessing the influence of key northern politicians, Atiku insisted that no current or emerging leader in the region matches his political reach and support.

According to the ADC chieftain, despite the popularity of the key Northern politicians, none of them has a wider voter base across the North than he does.

He further claimed that Kwankwaso’s influence remains largely confined to Kano State, adding that even within the state, political support is now divided between him and Governor Abba Yusuf.
