“They Opened Fire First!” — Police Gun Down Kidnappers, Rescue Women & Recover ₦4.2 Million in Delta
Fear turned to relief in Delta State after a deadly midnight operation shocked residents.
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have taken down two suspected kidnappers and rescued two women held captive.
The dramatic incident happened in Ogwashi-Uku after security forces tracked the gang from earlier kidnappings in Ibusa and Enu-Ani.
According to police spokesman Bright Edafe, the suspects opened fire immediately they saw officers — forcing a fierce gun battle.
But the police didn’t back down.
In the end, the victims were rescued alive, while the kidnappers were neutralized.

Security operatives recovered a huge ₦4.2 million believed to be ransom money, along with an AK-47 rifle and ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, praised the bravery of the team and assured residents that the fight against kidnapping is far from over.
Meanwhile, a manhunt is ongoing for other gang members who escaped into nearby bushes.
