“SPOKES IN THE NIGHT: FULANI COMMUNITY LEADER GUNNED DOWN IN PLATEAU AS TROOPS LAUNCH HUNT FOR KILLERS”
A fresh wave of tension has hit Plateau State after a respected Fulani community leader, Alhaji Bilyaminu Julde, also known as the Ardo of Gindir in Gashish area of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, was shot dead in a shocking late-night attack.
The killing has thrown the entire community into fear, confusion, and mourning as security forces intensify efforts to track down those responsible.
According to security sources, the incident happened around 11:45 p.m. on March 28, 2026, when troops of Operation Enduring Peace responded to reports of gunshots in the area. Sadly, by the time they arrived, the community leader had already been found lifeless inside his residence.
Reports say unknown gunmen carried out the attack and escaped before security operatives could arrive at the scene. Two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and several spent shells were later recovered, raising fresh concerns about the level of violence in the area.
The remains of the deceased have been released to his family for burial according to local customs, while investigations have officially begun. Troops have also increased patrols and launched a full manhunt to ensure the attackers are caught and brought to justice.
The incident has once again sparked fear among residents of Barkin Ladi and surrounding communities, as many worry about rising insecurity and repeated violent attacks in Plateau State.
