Hezbollah Claims Seven Rocket Attacks on Israeli Military Positions
According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Friday, March 13, 2026, the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said it carried out seven separate rocket attacks targeting Israeli military positions in southern Lebanon and northern Israel, as cross-border hostilities continue to escalate. See What Happened.
In a statement, Hezbollah said the strikes were conducted in response to what it described as “criminal Israeli aggression” against Lebanese cities and the southern suburbs of Beirut, an area widely considered a stronghold of the organization.
According to the group, its fighters targeted several Israeli military gatherings and installations along the border region. Among the locations mentioned were Israeli forces stationed at Marj, opposite the Lebanese border town of Markaba. Hezbollah also said it struck positions near the Khiam Detention Center, as well as areas identified as Khallat al-Asafir and Hammams Hill.
The group further claimed that one of its rocket strikes hit the northern Israeli settlement of Kfar Giladi.
As of Friday, the Israel Defense Forces had not issued any official comment confirming or denying Hezbollah’s claims regarding the attacks.
The latest exchange of fire comes amid a sharp escalation in fighting along the Israel-Lebanon border. Israeli military operations in Lebanon, which began on March 2, have resulted in significant casualties and displacement, according to regional reports. The ongoing campaign has reportedly killed at least 687 people and injured more than 1,700 others, while approximately 822,000 residents have been forced to flee their homes.
The broader regional escalation began after joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28. The attacks reportedly killed hundreds of people, including Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, triggering a wave of retaliatory actions across the region.
Hezbollah, which maintains close ties with Tehran, said it began targeting northern Israel on March 2 in response to continued Israeli military actions on Lebanese territory, despite a ceasefire agreement that had been in place since November 2024.
Following the escalation, Israel carried out airstrikes on several locations across Lebanon, including the southern suburbs of Beirut and areas in southern and eastern parts of the country. On March 3, Israeli forces also launched what officials described as a limited ground incursion into Lebanese territory.
