Ya’u Idris, Chairman of the Bassa chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), has raised concerns over the dangers faced by herders in the area amid ongoing violence. Watch What Happened.
In a video shared by Trust TV, Idris said herders often face deadly attacks whenever they take their cattle out for grazing in villages within Bassa Local Government Area.
According to him, many herders either lose their lives or have their cattle shot during such incidents.
Idris also recalled a particularly brutal attack in the village in which six herders were reportedly killed. He said the victims were mutilated, with their heads and hands cut off.
“Our people are being killed repeatedly. In this village, there was a time when six herders were killed and their heads and hands were cut off,” Idris said.
He added that the repeated attacks have created fear among herders, with many now reluctant to take their cattle out for grazing due to safety concerns.
