According to reports from authorities and eyewitness accounts, the suspect allegedly stabbed the teenager multiple times in the stomach, arm, and chest. It is said that the weapon used had been purchased only a few weeks earlier, raising further concerns about planning behind the attack.
The incident reportedly happened on a Sunday morning as Joy prepared to attend church. In a chilling sequence of events, the suspect is said to have sent her siblings to church while informing them she would not be joining them. He then allegedly locked the house and increased the volume of the television, a move believed to have been meant to drown out any cries for help.

A neighbour who heard distressing cries said they rushed to the scene after hearing the girl calling for help. Upon forcing entry, they reportedly found Joy lying in a pool of blood while the suspect remained inside, unresponsive to questions.
Joy’s aunt described the painful scene, noting that she was still dressed for church when she was found. The community has been left in deep mourning as questions continue over what could have triggered such a violent act.
Police have since taken the suspect into custody as investigations continue, while residents demand justice for the young girl whose life was cut short so tragically.
